Altera TouchWorks EHR is an EHR package developed for large, multi-disciplinary physician practices.

Formerly Allscripts Touchworks EHR, the division, which includeD TouchWorks, was acquired for approximately $700 million and rebranded to Altera Digital Health.

The web-based, cloud solution that can be accessed via a browser or an iOS application. It is modular, meaning organizations only have to pay for the functionality they require. Pricing is based on a per-module, per-user, per-month basis.

Altera Digital Health continues to develop and support TouchWorks EHR, focusing on enhancing its capabilities for large, multi-specialty practices, MSOs, and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs).

For instance, Allscripts Wand (a feature covered in a previous update) was originally a standalone mobile app providing mobile access to patient charts. Altera has shifted its mobile strategy toward TouchWorks Mobile Integration, which incorporates the core functionalities of Wand (charting, e-prescribing) into a modernised interface.

Wand's features have been improved and integrated into the new TouchWorks Note+ mobile app, which lets providers use their smartphones to capture patient conversations wherever they are.

Recent updates include ambient listening capabilities for the TouchWorks EHR mobile app, allowing clinicians to record patient encounters on mobile devices for AI-powered note generation on the desktop version.
